Tigger Kindel

If it moves electrons or makes noises, I dig it.

My mission is to help humanity become a spacefaring civilization. I give back by coaching and mentoring other leaders to do the same.

I run Kindel Leadership Development, a leadership coaching and development company.

I am a tech executive with decades of success creating products customers love. I founded and ran several successful (and failed) startups and built products used by millions of consumers at both Microsoft and Amazon (e.g. Internet Explorer, Windows Media Center, and Amazon Alexa). I’ve repeatedly built, scaled, and led highly performing-organizations that delivered outsized results.

I’ve spawned two amazing (now adult) children, and am into pretty much anything that moves electrons or makes noise. My love of working on classic cars (especially German and Japanese cars from the 70s and 80s) borders on the insane. I’m an avid reader, and fan of the outdoors, and get great joy out of skiing, playing soccer, and mountain biking.

When I was a baby a sister nicknamed me “Tigger” because I was bouncy. Friends and family have called me “Tigger” or “Tig” ever since. When I started my professional career I figured the goofy nickname wasn’t appropriate, so decided on Charlie. After 30 years of not loving being called “Charlie,” I decided to reclaim Tigger as my name. You can also call me Tig.

Some of my passions:

  • My Blog: tig.log - I’ve been blogging for about as long as blogs have been a thing. I’m happy folks read what I write, but I write mostly because there’s no better way to organize my thoughts.

  • I pretend to write code for fun - One of my favorite hobbies is writing code. I’ve written a bunch of stuff over the years and am currently enjoying maintaining several open-source projects, including Terminal.Gui, the easiest way to create cross-platform TUI (Terminal UI) apps. More here.

  • Classic Cars -

    • The Original Porsche Option Decoder - Decodes Porsche Option Codes into descriptions. Supports all Porsche models. Online since 1997.

    • Porsches - In 1997 I created a website to show my out-of-state friends and family what my “new” 911 was like. Since then I’ve added a few stories and implemented the most popular online Porsche option decoder.

    • BMW E28s - I’m obsessed with classic BMWs, especially the 1982-1988 5-Series (E28). I’m not a fan of modern BMWs.

    • Toyota FJ40 Land Cruisers - I’ve had my 1978 Toyota FJ40 Land Cruiser, named Uglina, since 2006. I’ve done a lot of work on her and she’s a blast to drive.

    • Datsun Roadsters - My next car project will involve a Datsun SR311 Roadster.

    • Gruntled HQ - I have a workshop in Durango, CO where I work on my cars and other projects.

  • Books - As Cicero said, “A room without books, is like a body without a soul.”

  • Tig - Music I created.
