Level
Junior: their own work, local scope, impact in the room they sit in.
Senior: owns the outcome end to end, cites numbers, moves peers and partners.
Exec: sets the bar across orgs, multiplies through other people, the numbers are org-level.
Why the follow-ups? Follow-ups are not small talk. They test whether the first answer was the candidate's own work, what they actually decided, and whether the impact was real. Listen for scope, numbers, and who they moved.
A raise-the-bar interview and a lower-the-bar interview for this question. Each has a transcript, interviewer notes, and the scorecard writeup you would put in the debrief.
